Mike

I am a native of NYC. I lived in the greater NY metro area for more than
38 years. I moved with my wife Kathleen, and sons Patrick(20), Brian(17),
to the Charlotte area in 1989. Our son Rory is a Charlotte area native, born
here in 1991.

I was an airline employee for 26 years before retiring from that career in
2004. I currently operate a small automotive paint repair franchise. A Porsche
enthusiast since about 1957, I joined PCA in 1994. I am also a long time member
of The 356 Registry. I'm fascinated by the history and feats of the Porsche
company, and am particularly interested in the more obscure, early history of
the family and the company.

I currently own a 1985 911 Carrera, which is sometimes used for D.E. duty, and
a 1992 Carrera 2 turbo. We as a family enjoy the fun we experience as PCA members.
I am now looking forward to making some contributions of my own. I intend to
continue the traditions started over 50 years ago with PCA, along with helping to
guide our area of the club into the future. I consider this opportunity to be a
privilege as well as a challenge.

Rory

My name is Rory Masterson. I am the son of Area Director Mike Masterson. I am
14 years old and was born in Charlotte, NC. The rest of my family hails from New
York. I have two brothers, Patrick and Brian, and two dogs, Pearl (a Boykin Spaniel),
and Oskar (a Dachshund).

I have been associated with the Porsche Club since about 1998, when I attended
my first Petite Le Mans at Road Atlanta. However, watching a 911 GT1 flip end
over end on the back straight was not much fun at all. In 2002, I went to Le Mans,
France for my 10th birthday. My father and I met with the Porsche Club of Great
Britain, and that, too was an enjoyable experience (except that I was pulling for
the Bentleys, not the Audis, to win).

2004 was when I got my big break, so to speak. I was fortunate enough to replace
my mother in the passenger’s seat of my dad’s 1985 Porsche 911, all the way down
to Daytona, FL. The Rennsport Reunion was one of the greatest trips I ever took.
I met my idol, Jacky Ickx, I saw some historic cars in action, and I was interviewed
by Speed Channel (thanks, Harvey). I’ve been to as many PCA meetings as possible
since then.
